Unlike other measurement companies that require bulky set-top box installations and maintenance, and therefore are limited in their sample size, Minnow developed and maintains a patented suite of free applications that Minnow panelists use everyday to keep track of their favorite content, discover new titles and share what they are watching with friends.

How Minnow Collects Panelist Data
Anyone in the U.S., Canada, Ireland, U.K., India, Italy, Mexico and Brazil can become a Minnow panelist. Our proprietary application called Minnow is available on connected TVs including Apple TV, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, tablets, web, and all popular mobile devices.
Minnow measures all content that panelists browse in-app, the video subscriptions they have connected on their profile and the content they watch. Before selecting a program, viewers must sign in using a unique log-in to let the application know that they’re the ones watching.
Once a viewer has logged in, Minnow knows exactly who is browsing, what they’re watching, where and on what device...all with their consent of course!
We use this measurement data to power our Minnow Insights product. User data is encrypted and stripped of any publicly identifiable information prior to being shared with Minnow Insights clients, and panelists are able to opt out of sharing their information at any time.
Minnow panelists number in the hundreds of thousands all over the U.S. meaning our margin of error is extremely small (currently less than 1%). It’s important to note that Minnow continues to grow and maintain samples for its panels that are statistically representative of the U.S. population, accounting for characteristics such as, but not limited to, ethnicity, gender, age and location. This ensures that Minnow’s audience is representative of all media consumption habits.
